The political strife in the Star Wars movies is familiar. As Hot Air mentions, consider the plot for Phantom Menace (episode I): “The Galactic Republic is in a period of decline, with its bureaucracy bloated and corrupt and its economy deteriorating.” And, “The taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems is in dispute.” Just replace “greedy Trade Federation” with our current government, and you’ve got money-hungry and power-hungry leaders destroying the United States of America. We’ve got the evil Emperor represented by the liberal wing of the Democratic Party, composed of party chairs, decision-makers, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. We’ve got Darth Vader as Obama, a man the liberals cultivated from obscurity, an arrogant and narcissistic man seduced by power and installed as a liberal puppet. But fear not, because to oppose this threat to our republic, we have a fightin’ Princess Leia in the form of Sarah Palin.
HillBuzz wrote about this comparison. Their side-by-side images of Leia and Sarah inspired me to make that idea more obvious with a photo-shopped image of the rogue leader Palin, as rebel leader Princess Leia. (Coincidentally, people have been repeating this recently. If i didn't take so long photo-shopping these Palin/Leia morphs and writing for weeks now on my spare time, maybe I wouldn't have been scooped by Schwartz, haha). Some are unsure of what to make of a self-made and independent woman like Palin. They may understand and sympathize with Palin better if they could relate her to someone familiar: a pop culture icon. And there are many similarities between Leia and Sarah. Both grew up smart, sassy, tomboyish, outspoken, and guided by strong convictions. Sarah proudly carries the baton from a lineage that includes Mayflower as well as Revolutionary War ancestry just as Leia embraced her family’s quest for peace and democracy. Palin became the youngest and the first female governor of Alaska. She championed ethics reform and strong energy policy, among other accomplishments for her state. She then became the first Republican woman on the vice presidential ticket. Her personality, ideas and policies reverberated across America and the world. This posed a threat to liberals and to elites from all political parties. So politicians and the media attacked Palin while ignoring the purpose and responsibilities of their jobs. Government leaders prized politics over national interests. The media abused freedom of the press by spreading lies and ignoring their role in checking government abuses. These misplaced priorities continue and have set our nation’s course towards ruin.
One movie scene should serve as a warning to us: Leia had to watch the Death Star destroy her peaceful home planet of Alderaan, which had no weapons. Palin has repeated the words of Ronald Reagan, “Peace through strength.” Perhaps if Americans demonstrated strength and national pride against this feckless government, we could avoid a fate similar to Alderaan’s. For Leia, the heinous act committed by the evil empire changed her from a supporter of the Rebel Alliance, to an active and fearless revolutionary. For Palin, the Democratic Party’s acts of chipping away at our Constitution, our national identity and our founding principles are so repulsive that despite personal attacks against her, she endures to fight another day. Palin made personal and professional sacrifices not only to defend Alaska but to defend the well-being of the entire nation under siege from forces outside and enemies within. Fortunately, Palin has become very effective at disarming opponents. She’s onto their game, found buttons to push, and anticipated their reactions to her advantage. She’s like a Jedi knight: able to sense the flow of energies and play mind tricks on the weak-minded liberals and media people.
But just like Leia had the Rebel Alliance, Sarah Palin needs people to fight alongside her in “rogue missions” to expose and defeat the liberal agenda. Will you answer the call to fight? (Note to liberals and small-minded, biased media: I mean a non-violent political “fight” full of war-themed analogies). Palin already has a patriotic rag-tag army of freedom supporters. Wouldn’t it be powerful if they allied with Tea Partiers and others upset or disappointed with the evil liberal empire? But how can we channel all that support and energy into something productive, specific and tangible? I formed a social media collaboration site: “Rogue Missions.” It gathers the wisdom of the online crowd—that’s you—on the best ideas to defeat Democrats and promote good leaders using social media (blogposts, videos, music, rallies, etc). People can submit and discuss ideas. We will also recruit a pool of talent who will receive assignments based on the skill required for each idea: computer programmers, website designers, writers, video editors, artists and rally organizers. The top ideas (as voted by the online community) are “Rogue MISSIONS” to be assigned to the appropriate supporter. More info at this blogpost. Check it out and tell your friends!
Let me acknowledge that Carrie Fisher, the actress who portrayed Princess Leia, supports Obama and ridicules Tea Partiers. Although I appreciate that she created an iconic warrior princess, Fisher is a drug addict who grew up in the Hollywood privilege of famous parentage. Her career has since plummeted, as did her marriages (one of which was to a gay guy—talk about clueless!). She feels kinship with fellow drug abuser Barack Obama. Drugs damage the brain; that may be why both Fisher and Obama have terrible judgments, skewed perceptions of reality, and poor performances at their jobs. We can take Fisher’s opinion out of the equation because it is irrelevant. We can separate the actress from the role. The character of Princess Leia and the facts about the principles for which she stands clearly support my argument that there are many similarities between Princess Leia and Sarah Palin. The FORCE is strong with Sarah Palin. Sarah *IS* the rebellion, and she represents the good that must prevail in order to have prosperous, free and happy days ahead.
